Workshops

I seem to have neglected the blog of late.I have done very little to my fossil work so as yet nothing to report there.
I was fortunate to be able to join a friend at a two day workshop with Hilary Beattie last week.It was run by the Bristol Quilters,I am not a quilter but was able to join them as someone dropped out last minute.
We worked to a broad theme ,mine was Coast. We coloured papers and fabrics using procion mx dyes, setacolour opaques and Neocolour 1 crayons. We made stamps and stencils, and also used thermofax screens.

These were some of the fabrics I created.I stepped away from my usual colour choices and really enjoyed the vibrant reds and limes.

We were encouraged to work fairly randomly into sketchbooks as we created the papers and fabrics.

It was a very free way to work and a quick way of creating several pages.

After, we were encouraged to add to the pages by tearing, cutting our papers and fabrics. We could use the crayons etc. to work into the page but as soon as we started to think about placement or colour we had to turn to another page.

It was fairly random but this is the way Hilary says she works. She treats her sketchbooks as starting  points and continues to add in and work into each page ,often returning to them again and again.
I am not sure where this will lead but it was an interesting and very lively two days.

Great pages, Jen, especially like the first two. Thi.nk that's a good idea to leave them to return to later - I'm terrible for wanting to completely finish pages
