Street and El Anatsui

I visited the Redbrick building in Glastonbury last Wednesday to meet with Sian and some other members of Stitch Textile Artists. As I had driven out from Bristol I decided to make a trip in to Street before I went home.Sian suggested I went in to Clark's shoe museum entrance to see the above piece. It was fabulous

His work is amazing - first saw a piece of his maybe 10 years ago at the British Museum. There is an article about him in the current edition of Embroidery.

What a fabulous piece, I love the colours and shapes, what a great opportunity to see it in the flesh.
Thank you so much for your comment on my post, I wasn't notified and only found it today, I loved your take on the missing parts of the embroidery and the symbolism, thank you.
Sorry to reply here but I don't think I have an email address for you.

Wow! That piece is amazing. Thank you for leaving such a lovely comment on my blog Jenn. It was so nice to see everyone again on Tuesday - I shall miss the meetings but not the hassle of getting stuff ready for exhibitions!
